Background

A recent Major Investment Study (MIS), conducted by Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG), reviewed "problems, needs, opportunities and transportation solutions on the existing expressway system in Lucas and Wood Counties in the Toledo metropolitan area". The study ranked the I-75/I-475 Interchange as the #1 priority for Toledo highway segments needing improvement. The MIS investigated different modes of transportation and design concepts before determining that upgrading the interstate is necessary.

The I-75/I475 Interchange is an important part of Toledo's transportation system and congestion and safety problems related to the existing interchange system are a major concern to ODOT. Therefore, ODOT commissioned a study of the interchange to determine a preferred alternative for improvements. HNTB Ohio, Inc. was selected to complete the study now underway.
